Common Errors

This article is a catalogue of the common Deadline errors that you can resolve yourself. As you oversee your Rendering Job, look out for these through the Task Log.

Click on any Task to open up its Log, and click on an Error item to view it.

The Error will usually be summarised at the very top.

3DS Max Startup Error

These errors can be expected as the render farm machines are dynamically used as remote workstation machines too. These can be mostly ignored.

3DS Max Failed to Load File Error

This error occurs primarily due to missing plugins, even if you think you may not have used any external plugins, some dependencies may still make their way through the file, especially with downgrading too.

Missing Plugin

A missing plugin is donated by the 'Missing DLL....' message, the files are usually .dll, .dlm, .dlt or .dlu files located around the following lines.

If the plugins listed are known plugins that you have used then refer to the section linked here.

If the plugins listed are unknown plugins to you, it is worth quickly googling it to see what it is. Often it is a plugin or utility from a newer version of 3DS Max, regardless, refer to the section linked here.

If neither of the above work, you may opt to ignore plugin errors, refer to the section linked here.

If the file missing plugin is physx.dlm - MassFX Rbody, refer to the section linked here.
