Unloading/Loading Filament

Manual Reload/Load

Choose the Extruder you wish to load, 0 for Primary, 1 for Secondary. Primary is towards the FRONT, Secondary is towards the BACK.

Filament Unloading

  1. Heat the selected Extruder to the filament's melting temperature.

  2. Once hot, use the Extrusion menu to RETRACT the filament. Repeat Retraction until the filament is free from the Extruder.

  3. Please pull the filament out of the toolhead entry point.

  4. Wind the filament spool and then tuck the filament away neatly in the holes on the spool. Then remove the spool from the spool holder.

Filament Loading

  1. Heat it to the PREVIOUSLY loaded filament's temperature, if unsure, use a higher temp (270>) to load and then extrude again at the correct temperature.

  2. In the meantime, prepare the filament by snipping it where it is clean.

  3. Put the spool on the spool holder and then feed the filament through the filament sensor.

  4. When the filament appears on the toolhead side, place the filament in the extruder entry hole.

  5. Use the EXTRUSION menu to EXTRUDE. It may help to extrude more length of filament (100).

  6. Confirm the extruder gears start turning.

  7. Gently push the filament into the extruder until the gears bite and catch the filament.

  8. Don't forget to remove the extruded blob!

Macros (UNAVAILABLE)

Loading and unloading filaments can be done via a set of macros that are accessible through the screen on the Modix.

Before running the command, the Modix needs to be homed first. If it is already homed, you do not need to home it again.

  1. Navigate to Macros>Filament Change and to the relevant operation that you wish to perform.

  2. Choose the filament that you want to unload/load.

  3. Follow the commands on the screen and respond to prompts when necessary.

Filament Unloading

Once the filament has been unloaded, please pull the filament out of the toolhead entry point.

Wind the filament spool and then tuck the filament away neatly in the holes on the spool. Then remove the spool from the spool holder.

Filament Load

  1. It is easiest to load the filament first before running the macro.

  2. Prepare the filament by snipping it where it is clean.

  3. Put the spool on the spool holder and then feed the filament through the filament sensor.

  4. When the filament appears on the toolhead side, place the filament in the extruder entry hole.

  1. Run the relevant Load Filament command and wait for the extruder to heat up again.

  2. Gently push the filament into the extruder until the gears bite and catch the filament.

  1. Don't forget to remove the extruded blob!
