The UniTree Go2 Robot Dog requires a particular setup to operate, failure to do so will lead to an incorrectly calibrated session. Please follow the instructions listed and consult our Technicians if needed.

Setting Up the Robot Dog includes:

  1. Unpacking the Robot Dog from the suitcase.

  2. Setting the Robot Dog in its correct prone position.

  3. Powering On and start operation.

The official User Manual can be found

Kit

The Robot dog comes with a case, along with the following items:

  • The robot dog

  • Case

  • Extra feet

  • Battery charger

  • 1500mAh long-life battery

  • Remote control

Device Connection

The Robot Dog will be provided with an iPad for use with the Unitree Go App. There are a variety of control methods but the app is the recommend controller for basic operation. This is covered in the next section.

The app is preconfigured as the Robot Dog is bound to NExT Lab's account. This means you cannot use your personal device to operate the Robot Dog.

If you intend to use the app, please check the connection of the iPad to the Robot Dog while on campus. Consult our technicians if there is an issue.

Unpacking

The Robot Dog weighs more than 15kg and requires 2 person handling.

Hold the strap at the back of the Robot Dog to lift it and remove from the suitcase. Ensure all legs are adjusted to the correct position before laying it on the flat ground.

Prone Position

  1. All feet are touching the ground

  2. All knees are touching the ground

  3. Bottom four contact points are touching the ground

Powering On

The controller is used while turning on the Robot Dog as it pairs the quickest, unlike other options. It is crucial for your own safety that you have access to an emergency stop command on the controller. If the Robot Dog fails to power on, its limbs will start flailing. It is dangerous to restrain it and it may damage its surroundings or itself.

  1. Be ready to emergency stop + reset the dog any time it is to be powered on; from new or restart. Power on the remote controller first and be ready with the L2+A damping command.

    1. The full emergency stop procedure is covered in the coming articles.

  2. For the Robot Dog, insert the battery into its slot on the body.

Ensure the battery is fully engaged into the slot to prevent it from falling out during movement.

  1. Short press + long press the power button. You should see green LEDs light up once it is activated.

  2. The Robot Dog will initiate and stand on its own after a few seconds.

DO NOT PICK UP THE ROBOT DOG WHILE IT IS ON

Packing

  1. Ensure the RobotDog is in static standing position.

  2. [Lock the joints] to avoid motor damage

  3. [Prone] to set the robot down, ready for packing

  4. Short press + long press on the battery to turn off the GO2.

  5. Remove battery pack.

  6. Fold the legs back to its storage position, otherwise it will not fit into the carry case.

If the unit fails to stand up, press L2+B. Reset the dog to the (outlined above).
