Troubleshooting

Battery

The Quest 3 does not function well on low battery, if encountering issues, ensure adequate charge.

Hard Restarts

Turn off the headset

  1. Press and hold the power button.

  2. Select Power Options or equivalent in the power menu.

  3. Restart

Restart Quest Link

  1. Soft reset through the headset:

    1. In Quest Link (if it's open), you can quit via the leftmost option in the bottom main menu bar. If there is no menu, press the Meta button to bring it up. If nothing works, restart the headset.

  2. Hard rest through the desktop app:

    1. Settings > General > Beta > Restart Meta Quest Link (at the top)

Can't find PC, not connecting, or startup issues:

Firstly, we want to try and isolate the issue first;

  1. Double check all connection issues are resolved.

  2. Double check the cable and the ports; try a different combination or try a different device.

  3. Restart the headset (top of page).

App may have gotten corrupted, reinstall or repair it to restore its functionality

  1. Use the OculusSetup.exe found in ...\Program Files\Oculus

Google is your friend otherwise! We do not think you should change any settings that compromise the security of your device though; such as disabling firewalls.

It was juuuust working

Where it was working fine, but you took off the headset and after putting it back on, it's just a black screen.

  1. Firstly there's a subtle difference in the black for when the headset is completely off, and when it is a black screen, check the power options. Press + Hold to bring up the power menu if the device is awake.

  2. Have you moved locations? You may need to reset the boundary.

  3. Restart Quest Link (top of page)

Wi-Fi Issues

UniWireless

Use the Android connection settings: https://www.unimelb.edu.au/wireless/uniwireless

Reminder that Air Link (PC-VR via Wi-Fi) does not work through UniWireless.

Other Issues

There are a few different Wi-Fi menus and one might have an error while others don't. To start:

  1. Forget the network that you are trying to connect to through the Wi-Fi menu.

  2. Restart the headset

Here all the different Wi-Fi menus; try the others to see if they work:

Notification Menu

  1. Forget the network that you are trying to connect to through the Wi-Fi menu.

  2. Restart the headset

  3. After startup, open the notifications menu. This is the Bell icon in the Universal Menu bar (Meta Button on right-controller, or right-hand pinch.)

  4. Find the prompt about a lack of internet connection.

  5. Open this notification's menu (three dots) > View All Networks.

  6. Try connecting through this menu.

Quick Settings Menu

  1. Find the Universal Menu bar (Meta Button on right-controller, or right-hand pinch.)

  2. Open the Quick Settings menu next to the profile icon (time, Wi-Fi, battery icons).

  3. Open the Wi-Fi menu.

  4. Try connecting through this menu.

Settings

Found through the Settings App (green cog) in the main menu bar, or as a link through the other menus.
