# Build a Side Table

## Intermediate

This is an intermediate level project, talk to an MSD Machine Workshop technician for insight to speed up and improve the process. The use of [Domino joints](https://ms-kb.msd.unimelb.edu.au/machine-workshop/making/step-by-step/joining/floating-tenon-joint) instead of dowels would make this build stronger and faster and adding [splines](https://ms-kb.msd.unimelb.edu.au/machine-workshop/making/step-by-step/joining/mitre-joint) to the top would add some strength and detail.

You may find enough free materials to build this but it is more than likely you will need to buy your timber. If you choose to put in drawer runners you will need to provide those as well. [Glue](https://ms-kb.msd.unimelb.edu.au/machine-workshop/making/step-by-step/04-glueing) and [finish](https://ms-kb.msd.unimelb.edu.au/machine-workshop/making/step-by-step/05-finishing) are provided by the machine workshop.

## Advanced

This is an advanced project that you should only attempt after making a few other projects. Depending on your workload and how much time you have to spend in the workshop, this piece could take you a few months to complete. This projects uses [bridle joints](https://ms-kb.msd.unimelb.edu.au/machine-workshop/making/step-by-step/joining/bridle-joint_v2) and [dados.](https://ms-kb.msd.unimelb.edu.au/machine-workshop/making/step-by-step/joining/dado-groove-rabbet-joints)
