# Build a Box

## Valet Box

Here is a great project for you to learn the basics of box making with this [mitred](/machine-workshop/making/step-by-step/joining/mitre-joint.md) tray.

Depending on the size of your project you may find enough free material in the workshop to make yours.

## Box

This box making project takes a lot of the skills from the Valet box project but adds a lid and some extra splines.

You may find enough free material in the workshop to make yours but if you're going for a contrasting look you'll probably need to buy some timber.&#x20;
