# How to Use

## How to use the hot wire foam cutter

#### STEP 1

Turn the power on the hot wire foam cutter.

#### STEP 2

Position the sliding bed guide to the required distance using the measurements on the wire cutter bed, and tighten.

#### STEP 3

Step on the pedal to heat the wire, and run your foam piece through, using the bed guide to push the material against if necessary.

The wire cutter will not operate unless the pedal is being stepped.

## Adjust Wire Angle

The wire should generally be adjusted to be perpendicular (90°) to the table surface. The angle can be set by using the 90° buffer on the top arm of the wire cutter.

An alternative angle can be set by holding a protractor against the wire.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://ms-kb.msd.unimelb.edu.au/msdmaker/msd-model-making-space/hot-wire-foam-cutter/how-to-use.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
