Paying For A Job

There are currently two methods of payment at Fab Lab, dependant on the service you are using:

Paying via Shopify (SLA, Laser, Metal Laser, CNC)

To navigate the online store, use search to find your job by student number or job number, or browse by category. Most recently completed jobs are displayed at the bottom of the main page. Jobs are organized products displayed within these respective categories – Laser Cutting, 3D Printing and CNC Routing. Begin the payment process of your job by selecting the product to direct you to the description page. The details of the selected product including price will be displayed on this page. Click on “Add to Cart”. Continue with other products to be paid for if required.

Checkout

When ready, navigate the Cart button on the top right of the web page. A popup cart menu will list the products added to cart and calculate the total cost of your checkout. Different options for payment are displayed here, including Card via Checkout, Shop Pay, Google Pay or Paypal. Select preferred payment option, sign in (if needed) and fill in the details accordingly to process payment.

Paying via Papercut - 3DprinterOS (FDM only)

Starting January 2026, FDM printing will be be charged to your Papercut account via 3DprinterOS, enabling functionality just like regular paper printing at the University.

How does it work?

  • Follow the instructions to create a job and upload your files.

  • If you wish to know the print cost before re-charging your papercut account, simply upload your print ready files to 3DprinterOS for an accurate costing.

  • Your account will automatically be charged when the print has been completed successfully - as determined by the 3D printers.

  • Unsuccessful or cancelled prints will not be charged to your account.

To top up your Papercut account:

  1. Login to the Web Print portal.

  2. Select 'Account Recharge'

  3. Re-enter your password and select 'Sign In'.

  4. Enter your recharge amount and select 'Continue'.

  5. Follow the prompts with your personal credit/debit card information.

  6. Your payment will be processed, and a 'Success' message will be displayed.

Troubleshooting Payment Issues

If you are experiencing issues with job setup, model design or 3D printing technology, or have been mistakenly charged for failed 3D printing, please immediately contact the Fab Lab team and detail your issue. Please remember to always include your job reference number and shopify order number where applicable to ensure a timely resolution.
