Carving Chisels
Carving chisels are specialty chisels used to create intricate shapes and forms from timber.
Introduction
Carving chisels come in a range of shaped profiles ranging from 8 - 40mm in width.
Two Ways To Use Carving Chisels
Pairing: Guiding and pushing the chisel through the timber one can control the cut, pairing small amounts of timber into a desired form one movement at a time.
Striking: Hitting the chisel with a carving mallet allows for larger amounts of wood to be removed. For some techniques, such as carving a traditional scroll, striking the chisel will create the desired sharp curved edge.
Materials
Timber: Dried or Green Timber Species
No Metals or Acrylics can be used with this hand tool.
